I think no.. not at all, cause even if you show a symbol of something to get out of it you still feel guilty. Just as Pilate did, he felt guilty and he felt really bad what he did.
No it didn't because it was his fault that he was going to kill Jesus. He was trying to get someone else to do his job but he could of done. This man doesn't diserve to die he shall not die.

Yeah he washed his hands for the death of jesus and it made it worse for jesus.
